Privacy Policy
How personal data is handled on duskvein.com and across Duskvein services.
1. Data controller
The controller responsible for the processing of personal data on this website and through the Duskvein game is:
Dennis Jung (TastyDev)
Schulhausstrasse 68
4573 Lohn-Ammannsegg
Switzerland
E-mail: support@duskvein.com
2. Scope
This policy applies to duskvein.com and to data processed directly in connection with the Duskvein game. The Steam storefront, Discord, and any other third-party platforms are governed by their own privacy policies.
3. Data we collect
We try to collect as little personal data as possible. Concretely:
- Technical access data when you visit the website (IP address, user agent, referrer, request URL, timestamp) — collected by the web server.
- Contact data you send voluntarily (e.g. name, e-mail, message body when e-mailing support).
4. Purposes & legal basis
Personal data is processed only for clearly defined purposes. Legal bases are the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP / nDSG) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Operating the website — legitimate interest in providing and securing the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR / Art. 31(2)(c) FADP).
- Responding to support enquiries — performance of a (pre-)contractual relationship and legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(b)/(f) GDPR).
- Security & fraud prevention — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
5. Hosting & server logs
The website is hosted on a virtual server provided by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany, on behalf of the controller under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). The web server stores standard access logs (see § 3) for security and troubleshooting purposes; these are rotated and purged within a short retention window typical for shared-infrastructure operation.
6. Cookies & local storage
This website does not set any tracking cookies and does not use third-party analytics. No personal data is stored in your browser by this site.
7. Contact & support
If you write to support@duskvein.com, your message and contact details are processed solely to handle your request. Messages are stored in our mailbox for as long as necessary to resolve the matter and for a reasonable period afterwards for documentation.
8. In-game data & Steam
Duskvein is distributed through Steam (Valve Corporation). When you buy, install, or play the game, Steam processes your data according to its privacy policy. The developer receives only aggregate / pseudonymous Steam developer data (e.g. wishlist counts, regional sales, crash reports), never your personal account details.
The game itself stores your save files locally and (if you have it enabled) via Steam Cloud. Save data is not transmitted to TastyDev unless you attach it to a support request yourself.
9. Third-party services
Third-party services are used in a strictly limited way:
- Google Fonts — web fonts (Cinzel, Spectral, JetBrains Mono) are loaded from Google’s CDN (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). When your browser fetches a font, your IP address is transmitted to Google. Legal basis: legitimate interest in delivering a typographically consistent site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). For details see Google’s privacy policy.
- YouTube (gameplay trailer) — the trailer is embedded from YouTube using a click-to-load pattern: no YouTube content is loaded and no data is transmitted to Google until you actively click the play button. Once you do, YouTube (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) processes data necessary to play the video, including your IP address and may set cookies. Legal basis: your consent expressed through the click (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). For details see Google’s privacy policy.
- Discord — only linked, not embedded. Discord (Discord Inc.) only receives data when you actively click the link.
- Steam — only linked. Valve only receives data when you actively click through to the Steam store page.
10. Data retention
Personal data is retained only as long as necessary for the stated purposes:
- Server access logs: short rotation, typically up to 14 days.
- Support correspondence: until the matter is resolved + a reasonable archive period (typically up to 12 months).
- Statutory retention obligations (e.g. tax records) take precedence where applicable.
11. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request information about the personal data held about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion (“right to be forgotten”), subject to legal retention obligations
- Request restriction of processing or portability of your data
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, edoeb.admin.ch) or, for EU residents, your local data-protection authority
12. Children
This website and Duskvein are not aimed at children under 13 (or under the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). Personal data is not knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, please contact us so it can be deleted.
13. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the game and services evolve. The current version is always available at duskvein.com/privacy, with the effective date shown at the top.
14. Contact the data controller
For any data-protection question or request, simply write to support@duskvein.com. Responses are aimed within 30 days.
